To insure a strong foundation in the Pilates technique, we recommend a new client begin with three 55 minute long individual classes. In the first session, we will evaluate your posture and assess your goals, then introduce the basic principles of body awareness that the Pilates Method is based on. The following two sessions will allow us to tailor a program to suit your needs, and will introduce Mat and/or Reformer exercises to prepare you for group classes. Instruction on the Cadillac and Chair also available.
It is our priority that our clients are comfortable and safe at every stage of their Pilates experience. Many people have found group classes to be overwhelming as their first exposure to Pilates. Private lessons allow an instructor to become aware of an individual's posture, muscle strengths and weaknesses. Modifications or additional challenges in exercises can be made to account for these. By the time a client enters a group, it is our goal that they will understand their body enough to know the modifications and the muscle emphasis in the exercises that will be most beneficial to them.
