Although Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates, this form of fitness seems to be geared more towards a fitness program for women. What some men might not realize at first glance, however, is just how beneficial the art of Pilates can be for their body, health and overall well-being. Like weight-lifting, Pilates focuses on the isolation of certain muscles at a time. Additionally, Pilates plays a tremendous role in building a solid foundation and strengthens the body starting from the core. Men should take note that with their bodies being built differently from women's, muscles such as the hips and hamstrings may be a little tighter, however, there are always modified options available. Not only is Pilates is a tool to strengthening the core and overall physique of the body, but it plays a role in exercising the mind, consciously keeping the brain active and present.
